Delhi based online book store BookAdda.com has disclosed the acquisition of KoolSkool, online retailer providing a one-stop-shop for school going children, in a cash and stock deal. The buy was made three months back and the target portal has been integrated with BookAdda.
Launched in 2011 by Suhas Dutta and Vyom Khandelia, KoolSkool is a specialised multi-channel venture. KoolSkool uses multi-channel retailing through affiliation with schools for annual book sales, and rest of the year sales through its ecommerce web site, library sales, exhibitions and fairs.
BookAdda is an online bookstore founded by Arjun Kumar and Mahipal Reddy. In 2010, it was acquired by Infokarma Services, led by Hemant Kohli, who was earlier CEO of IT&T.
The online portal claims of having collection of over 1,30,00,000 books from over 34,12,622 authors. Besides collection of general books in various categories like Fiction, Non Fiction, Mystery, Self Help, Reference, Biographies etc, it also has a collection of Management, Computer, Engineering and Medical books catering to many university syllabus in India. It ships one book every minute, says the founder.
The company has tieups with online brands such as MeritNation, Edurite and others. It recently partnered Google to preview more than half a million books on its web store so that users can preview the content before buying it.
In 2012, TV Mohandas Pai and his partner Ranjan Pai had invested in from their $100 Mn PE Fund.
